Structural

Structural

All species from British Columbia (B.C.), Canada are used in the production of engineered wood- whether finger-joint and/or laminated components and blanks or glue laminated beams (glulam). In the case of Spruce-Pine-Fir (SPF) and Douglas-fir it is used in laminated veneer lumber (LVL), I-beams and cross-laminated timber (CLT). All of these products are gaining popularity worldwide.

Recommended Species

Spruce-pine-fir (SPF)

SPF is the major house framing timber used in North America for wall, floor and roof framing in large/ small  cottages, whether pre-fabricated or built on site. SPF is the natural choice due to its strength, stiffness, nail holding and workability. SPF is smooth dressed, kiln –dried and  graded for structural applications; every board is grade stamped accordingly. Users can be assured of consistent grade, size and quality every time. The wood is relatively lightweight making it easier and more cost-effective to transport and even be worked on easily on a job site using hand tools.

Douglas-fir

This specie yields excellent large-sized structural timbers. As these timbers are harvested from large straight grained logs, they generally remain straight during the seasoning process. An excellent choice for heavy timber trusses and post-and-beam construction; Douglas-fir is stiff, rigid, low in weight relative to strength and available in long lengths.
