If there is one Canadian wood species with many applications, its Douglas-fir. From furniture to doors, door frames, windows and structural (post & beam to mass timber) applications to even mill work, vat, veneer and ship and boat construction, it is considered to be the best-in-class wood. B.C., Douglas-fir is a large tree reaching a height of about 85 metres, It has two times the tensile strength-to-weight ratio relative to steel and greater compressive strength than concrete.
