“Wood is universally beautiful to man.
It is the most humanly intimate of all materials.” – Frank Lloyd Wright
Rich look, fine texture, contemporary style, and comforting warmth; wood offers you all of this and more. From dramatic wooden stairs to sturdy gazebos, from elegant doors to durable outdoor structures, wood has found its place in almost all applications.
Only a few designers understand and appreciate the true essence of wood’s qualities in the interior and architecture industry and use it to its full potential.
Presenting a list of our most inspiring work where our wood species have truly elevated the designs with their unique features.
1.Pallet Brewhouse & Kitchen
Situated in the heart of Bengaluru, the owner of this restaurant wanted to open doors to some of the city’s finest crowd. As an ode to the city’s reputation of being a hub of wooden pallet manufacturing, the entire space is dominated by raw, rusty, and recycled wooden pallets. The grey tone of the concrete floor and the wall complement the Spruce-pine-fir panels on the ceilings and planes. With its inspiring design and chic architecture, this Brewhouse is truly an epitome of a place where design meets style.
2.Aakar Villa, Himachal Pradesh
This mesmerising private villa is located amongst the landscapes of beautiful mountains in Himachal Pradesh. Before its creation, when the idea was sealed and the design was on the drawing board, all the architect had to do is choose the correct wood species and turn this dream into reality. Considering the number of posts and beams required to build this villa, the obvious choice was to go ahead with light-weight, high-quality soft wood species of Canadian Wood. They used Douglas fir and steel fastenings to craft posts and beams, vertical and horizontal load-bearing components, windows and doors joinery, etc. Once the entire construction was completed, only then they realised the true charm of this villa.
3.CEPT University Workshop
CEPT University plays an integral role in shaping the minds of aspiring architects. To add a spark to their institution, Canadian Wood decided to beautify the workshop with curved glulams made of Douglas fir. They not only filled the negative space with a structural design but also broke the linear lines of the room with their curvy form. Now when the students of this university would search for inspiration, they wouldn’t have to look anywhere else.
Wood, a natural solution, is an excellent choice for crafting masterpieces of interior and outdoor woodwork. It’s the most trusted building material by designers, architects and artisans for all the right reasons. Its charm and beauty are just the added benefits. To know more about our projects, head to our Inspiration gallery and read successful case studies of our projects.
